Introduction I'm a California native who teaches English at a state university, has been married nearly 30 years to an amazing Egyptian dude, raised an awesome daughter, and lives with a brain fart that the medical community calls Chiari Malformation. I had brain surgery in February of 2006 and for the time being at least, my brain is now peacefully coexisting with my spinal cord in the cramped quarters of my spinal canal. With an honest to goodness hole in my head, I am now free to continue the pursuit of life, liberty, and good coffee -- in between headaches, nausea, dizziness, and seizures, of course!
