Introduction | I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas - just a stone's throw from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. I have been a writer most of my life. I started out as the sports editor for my high school newspaper at Jefferson High School. I joined the U.S. Air Force so I could attend college on the G.I. Bill. I was a student at the University of Texas at El Paso and at Columbia University in New York City. My first published book was "Voces de la gente"(1972), and my latest book is "Chicano - Sin Fin! Memoirs of a Chicano Journalist" (ISBN 0-9777992-9-9; 2008 by Zapata 1910 Press). Before retiring, I worked at USA Today as one of the editors on the Across the USA Page, and as a reporter for the El Paso Times, El Paso Herald-Post and KDBC-TV. I am listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among Hispanic Americans, and many other such lists. I do freelance editing, writing and consulting. I am available for presentations and book signings.
