| Introduction | Hi, I'm Margo. I am thrilled to be attending the Young Scholars Program this summer at UMD. This fall, I will be a senior at Gateway Senior High School in Pittsburgh. When I'm not busy with school work or with my job at Justice, a clothing store for young girls, I am usually spending time with my friends and family. On a typical night, my friends and I will go out for dinner then head over to Starbucks, the local "hotspot" for everyone our age. I also spend a lot of time at the gym-the best place in the world to clear my head. Traveling and writing are my two passions, and my dream career would combine them both together! Particularly during my junior year, I began my journalism career. I participated in a journalism apprenticeship through my school's gifted program, which was held a Point Park University. Additionally, I job-shadowed the associate editor for the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle. At the Chronicle, I edited front-page features and learned first-hand what life as a journalist really involves. I look forward to getting to know all of you in the next three weeks! |
