| Introduction | I have recently graduated from Bristol UWE where I studied Illustration, specialising in Reportage Illustration. I have a keen interest in current affairs. I read a wide range of magazines, online material as well as the newspaper. These often instigate my illustrations projects. I believe illustration is an attractive and effective way to encourage readers to engage with a topic they might otherwise find daunting. Throughout my time at university I aimed through my work to draw people to subjects they would not ordinarily connect with. A large part of my work is informed by my travels. I have travelled widely in Asia. Most recently I have returned form Sumatra. This led me to produce my first idoc, an interactive platform combining my artwork, writing, journal extras, videos, photographs and interviews. I am interested in producing more idocs in the future. I went to Sumatra with the intention of developing illustrations around the theme of tigers and the threats to their survival. However, my work took me in a variety of directions including religions, culture, education, bird poaching and politics. |
