| Introduction | I am a pastor (or practical theologian) in the Presbyterian Church (USA). After growing up in the Portland area, I returned in June 2013 to serve with First Presbyterian Church of Vancouver, Washington (the older Vancouver). Previously, I served as the solo pastor of a small church in Southeastern Oklahoma and (more recently) the associate pastor of a medium-sized church in Northern California--two very different cultural contexts. I was an English major at the University of Colorado, have a Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and have a Doctor of Ministry degree (in Missional Leadership) from Fuller Theological Seminary. I am married and have two children, a teen and a tween. My hope is that this blog will be a helpful resource for anyone working to contextualize the gospel (the good news of and about Jesus Christ) faithfully and effectively in the Pacific Northwest--also known as Cascadia. |
