Introduction I was born in Cleveland, Ohio but have lived in Florida since I was 2. So naturally I consider myself a Floridian by heart. I grew up in the country, Kathleen, to be specific. I attended Kathleen Elementary, Middle, & High School and graduated in 1994. I didn't know that I wanted to be a teacher until October of 2005. I moved to Cape Coral from Daytona Beach just to go to Florida Gulf Coast University. My real goal for going to school and getting a degree is to give my children the life that I never had. I have to admit that I didn't really learn while I was in primary school, so college is fun to me. I love it when I learn something new. I am excited about this children's literature class because I have only recently started reading. I would have to say that before last year I only read maybe a handful of books. I struggled with reading and comprehension for the longest time. But now that I have discovered reading, I really enjoy it. I wish that I had more time for it. I look forward to sharing and learning with my students.
Interests Right now I am learning about children's books. I am interested in anything that will help my students be successful students.
Favorite Books I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, The Cage by Ruth Minsky Sender, The secret life of bees by Sue Monk Kidd, Out of the dust by Karen Hesse, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick.
