| Introduction | More than twenty years ago I gave up my well-paid job, sold our house and moved with my family to live on the border between England and Wales. That was the start of my life changing journey to a simpler way of living. About six years ago this simple life was transferred to Småland in southern Sweden, to another old house this time in a forest with new challenges and new obstacles, but the simple lifestyle remains the same. Through my blogging (under my ‘alias’ Hay Quaker), and rare dips into print and television, I have come into contact with others all over the world who also live simple lives, not always for simple reasons, but we all share something in our aims. I have made mistakes on occasions, I have had failures, I have had disappointments, but that ideal of living a life more simple is still alive in me, and still gets me up in the morning eager to carry on with the journey. | Favorite Books | Most of my favourite novels were written between the mid nineteenth century and the mid twentieth century. Some notable exceptions of course! Favourite character in a book; Badger in 'The Wind in the Willows' - I have become him! |
