We focus on early warning mental cues to avoid attacks rather than fighting techniques for an attack already under way. A man who harms his wife or girlfriend normally exhibited predator-type behavior long before the incident. A neighbor who harms another normally exhibited predator-type behavior long before the incident. A college acquaintance who attacks, normally exhibited predator-type behavior before the incident. The fact is, more than 85% of attacks on women, teens and children are from someone familiar to the victim -- classmate, friend of a friend, neighbor, relative, spouse or boyfriend, workmate or new acquaintance. We teach the red flags predators reveal about themselves, how predators look, act, and choose their victims, and ways to avoid or diffuse dangerous situations. |
