Introduction I am a journalist and writer with a personal and professional interest in cesarean deliveries, particularly those that are planned and/or chosen by women. In 2004, I decided to do something about the negative portrayal of elective cesarean deliveries, and began work on my website - www.electivecesarean.com - with the aim of examining the specific risks and benefits of planned versus emergency surgery, and explaining why cesarean delivery is a legitimate birth decision. The website went live in February 2006 and later that year I moved to the USA after 5 years as a broadcast journalist and producer with BBC News in London. In 2008, I co-founded the Coalition for Childbirth Autonomy (CCA) and in July 2009, moved back to the UK. Our beautiful baby daughter Charlotte and son Jack were born in September 2007 and May 2009, both by cesarean delivery.
