| Introduction | As a computer security analyst I am often working with people who talk about risk. Often these conversations on risk focus on configuration, fixes, or process for compliance. It is rare to evaluate computer security risk in a manner that would be considered quantifiable or scientific. Within the skills of business, operations management skills appear to be the most scientific. Operations management deals with risk management, quality management, decision analysis, and simulation. As a whole, computer security within corporations seems to be missing these skills. My interests are building skills which apply to operations management and at some point they will be applied to computer security operations management. Since Daniel Bernoulli, wrote one of the earliest mathematical papers on risk management (Exposition of a New Theory on the Measurement of Risk), I will attempt to act as Daniel Bernoulli in a modern context. |
