| Introduction | After 35 years of living as a Type 1 diabetic, I was told by my nephrologist in August 2010 that I needed a new kidney. He then proceeded to tell me that it would be kind of dumb to put a good kidney into a diabetic body, as this is what killed the first set to begin with, and thus I'm currently on the journey for a kidney / pancreas transplant. And so it goes... And so it went........After almost three years on the transplant list and after several dry runs...on August 2nd, 2013, I received a successful simultaneous kidney / pancreas transplant. Posts since 8/2/2013 document my recovery and new life. I continue to post in the hope that my story may be able to help others. |
