| Introduction | Grew up in the birthplace of the Santa Fe Trail (Council Grove, Kansas), graduated in journalism from Kansas State University and have lived remainder of life in either Kansas City or St. Louis metro areas. Have a schoolteacher wife (high school English) and two adult sons, one a marketing executive at Walt Disney World and the other a medical products regional sales manager. Former executive in corporate communications and public affairs for Seven-Up Company World HQ and Mallinckrodt Chemical World HQ, both in St. Louis. Also owned public-relations consulting business for 12 years. Started out career as a magazine editor in Kansas City after serving as a U.S. Air Force public affairs officer. |
| Interests | Sports and politics. Was founder and -- for 26 years (1981-2007) -- executive director of the St. Louis Shootout (known as 7UP Shootout or Coca-Cola/KMOX Shootout), the premier high school basketball event of its kind in America. Also founded and directed the Omaha Shootout (2004-07). Elected this year to serve as Republican precinct committeeman in Monroe County, Illinois. |
