About me

Introductionis a fifth-generation, lifelong resident of Douglas County. He is the author of Seasons and Cycles: Rhythms of Life of the Kansas River Basin (1985), and numerous essays o the prairie, bioregionalism, and living close to the land. Ken is also an occupational therapist and director of Habilitation Services at Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka, KS. He serves on the Coordinating Council of the Continental Bioregional Congress, and he helped found the Kansas Area Watershed Council. Ken has led nature walks and given talks to many organizations over the last two decades. He was awarded the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund, and the 2007 Imagination and Place environmental arts award. Ken lives near Wells Overlook on land where his mother, grandfather and great grandfather grew up, with his wife, the writer Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, and children.
