| Introduction | The idea to "Check for Cake Flour" came about three years ago, when I was hospitalized and underwent a lung biopsy to discover the origin of some lung lesions. During this time, it seemed like doctors asked me if I had come into contact with a million random substances, and one of my friends said, "Hey, Christy, did you tell them to check for cake flour?" You know, of all the things they checked for, cake flour would probably be the most likely culprit. I absolutely love to bake, and now I get to pass on that love to my daughter, Evelyn. She is learning the same secret alchemy that I was taught as a child by the matriarchs of our family. I am happily married to a political blogger, which still cracks up all my friends who knew me as one of the least-politically informed girls to ever grow up in the 80's and 90's. I am just beginning a new life as a Stay-At-Home-Mommy. Evelyn is four years old and Gunnar is a year old. They keep me laughing, except when I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how on earth they came up with the latest shenanigans. |
