Introduction	For nearly half my working life, I and some very talented financial planners have been helping readers of The Kansas City Star work through the kind of personal finance questions we talk about around the kitchen table. Now I'm putting my nearly two decades of experience to real-life tests. Not everything I write about will work equally well for everyone. But I will write about how things work and you can judge how that might fit your situation. There are two more things you should know. One, I am not a financial services professional.
