| Introduction | Growing up in the northern Chicago suburbs, I was presented with wonderful opportunities to explore the fine arts. I began playing the violin at age 10 and have participated in various civic orchestras. During elementary school I carried around a sketchpad and filled up both sides of every page with drawings of horses. I double majored in Music Education and Art Education at Miami University where I played in the orchestra, marching band, and other small ensembles. During this time I also developed my skills as a painter and printmaker. In 2006 I received my Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in the area of Art Education and in 2008 I earned National Board Certification in the area of elementary art. I worked as an art teacher and age group advisor at a girls camp in Maine for five years and eventually found my way back to Chicago to teach art and music in a suburban elementary school. I’ve spent my summers in Chicago working at a summer camp for students with special needs and traveling to Wyoming with middle school students to study Yellowstone National Park. I currently sell my prints in my ETSY store called Shoot the Breeze Prints. |
