Introduction | A former reporter for USA Today, I left the news biz to write funny mysteries because I was tired of covering real-life, sad stories. Now, I get to say how the endings turn out. I'm a native Floridian. My books are set in a down-home slice of the state most people don't even know exists. Book One in my ''Mace Bauer Mystery'' series is MAMA DOES TIME (2008); Book Two is MAMA RIDES SHOTGUN (2009). MAMA GETS HITCHED came next, in 2010. The latest is MAMA SEES STARS (2011. Book No. 5, MAMA GETS TRASHED, will be out in 2013. I've been married forever to Kerry Sanders, a TV reporter for NBC. No pets. No kids. We had goldfish once. Turned out badly. |

When your science teacher smashed a frozen rose with a hammer, did you warm the petals to bring them back to life?
I tried to avoid science in school. If I'd known we got to smash fragile flowers with hammers, I would have signed up!
