| Introduction | I am a three-term Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in the Brookland neighborhood of Ward 5. Born in the District of Columbia, I am a committed, strong and hardworking advocate for those who cannot or will not stand up for themselves. I will bring an independent, compassionate voice to the council that speaks out for the residents. Populations in Ward 5 are hurting and suffering in silence. Despite the city’s gentrification and revitalization policies, many Ward 5 residents feel left out, pushed out and ignored by leadership. Economic inequality, joblessness, unaffordable housing, poor schools, poor city services, homelessness and overall fear about day-to-day survival makes the District a tale of two cities for many. I am running a grassroots campaign which is people oriented and people-centered. I do not accept campaign monies nor am I beholden to any special interest group or contributors.
