| Introduction | Dr. Kim Nesta Archung is dedicated to children and youth from disenfranchised communities. Her experience includes over thirty years working globally on issues of educational equity. Her expertise spans teacher professional development, curriculum design, and program administration. She is interested in gender assessment and girls’ education, culturally responsive pedagogy, critical literacy, and Comparative International Education with a specific focus on the African Diaspora. She graduated cum laude from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee with a B.A. in Psychology and Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a M.Ed. focusing on Cross Cultural Relativity in the Literacy Development of primary aged students. She earned a PhD in Educational Studies from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the founder and CEO of SANDAGA International Education Foundation, and a co-founder of Paige Academy, an African-centered independent school serving children from birth to twelve years of age in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Dr. Archung’s interdisciplinary scholarship focuses on educational theory, race, culture, and class, and their influences on teacher development. |
