Introduction	Amanda Torres is a Chicana writer, singer, teacher and organizer. She is co-creator and member of L@s Eloter@s, a socially engaged Latino writing collaborative that seeks to connect, support, and foster safe spaces for Latinos in Chicago. She has been performing and teaching internationally since she was fourteen years old. She showcased the first youth slam in London, won the National Brave New Voices finals, and has performed all over the Chicagoland area. She has received several awards for her writing, including the Union League Civic Arts foundation Award for fiction. Amanda is currently a student and Library Clerk at Harold Washington College working towards a degree in Library Science.
