Introduction You know the Beach Boys song “and the Midwest farmers daughters make you feel alright”. I am proud, and very fortunate to have grown up on a farm in northern Illinois ~ gathering the eggs from the chickens, throwing our watermelon rhines over the fence for the pigs, carrying the milk from the cows to the milkhouse, having the “mean” bull with a ring in his nose chase me, cultivating corn on the 4th of July, baling hay and mastering the art of backing up, raking straw, putting oats in the auger and into the grainery, the corn drying sound continuously in the fall, relatives gathering for a full day of putting up sweet corn for everyone. Getting up at the light of day and not going to bed until after the sun goes down, working in all kinds of weather ~ cows don’t care how hot it is or how much snow has fallen, they still need to be milked, and going to church every Sunday. I am so grateful for my parents & family. This blog will contain amateur pictures with a pocket camera, be wordy and lengthy at times, a place to vent and a place of peace, and I usually have an end user in mind when I post.
