| Introduction | I am originally from Bellingham, WA, USA and have lived in Santa Marta, Colombia, SA for the past two years. I had been teaching in the public schools in the USA for five and a half years when I decided to finally go ahead and try out teaching in South America. I sent out emails to some schools and was surprised to receive responses. In less than a week from responding, I had a job at a bilingual school as a full time middle school English teacher. While in Colombia I have learned a lot about the education systems (both public and private) and was drawn toward working in the less fortunate neighborhoods. After two years, I have made the leap from private schools to working with a non-profit education program: Colombia Sin Fronteras. |
