Introduction I'm interested in people's life stories: what they've done, what lead them to do what they did, how they discovered their choices. I'm also VERY interested in what it says on all the historical markers I pass on the highway that Al won't stop at to let me read.
Interests Just 3 months shy of my 19th ‘work anniversary’, I was fired. Not let go or laid off. Fired. Because I had a hunch, I already had halted my search for a new car. (Consequently, I continue to drive a vehicle marking that same anniversary.) Also on hold: further home renovations, my annual bra buying trip, and professional haircuts. And car snacks – the goodies I buy while grocery shopping to eat on my drive home. God forbid I wait the seven minutes it takes to get there. Segue to Sacked Avenue... The day I was fired was beautiful so, afterward, I met my sisters for drinks. Over a frilly cocktail (that I would never splurge on now), I only half-flippantly announced that I should write a blog about life after being fired. Mimi gave one of those ‘fitting room gasps’ like I had just come out modeling cute jeans, “You should!” That's all I needed – a blog was born!
Me: A writer with 20-plus years in marketing and PR, I now make story notes on scraps of paper to leave all over the house. I live in my old house with Al, in the snowbelt known as Central New York. My retirement goal is to hang out in diners so I can continue to be nosy about people and write.
