| Introduction | Julia Valder is a freelance author of children’s books. In her private practice, she used her books Henry’s Hygienic Hullabaloo and Ben Liked to be Liked to counsel children. While Butterfly Man, published in a prominent romance magazine, was a brief foray into the romance genre, her passion is writing books for children. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Books and Illustrators organization and as the mother of six and the grandmother to, for the moment, fifteen grandchildren, she has a never-ending supply of fodder for her stories. |
| Interests | Currently my interest is getting my book to an agent who would like it. Eva of the Beasts, is a fantasy mid-grade novel of a young girl’s coming of age. Eva has the ability to shape shift - for the moment. In order to keep her Gift all she has to do is master it, complete three quests and be admitted to Los Unidos, a group who has pledged to end the squabbling among the tribes of Esperanza. When Eva is summoned to perform her quest, Eva learns that her grandmother, one of the Counselors of Los Unidos, has demanded that she bring her two younger sisters with her. She agrees because she is determined to become a member of Unidos so that she may free her father, who is a prisoner of the Pujanza tribe. Eva is then informed that another apprentice will be joining her on her quest. Eva barely has time to adjust to this unwanted news when Quinto and his two younger brothers enter. They are introduced as members of the Pujanza tribe. Is her grandmother setting her up to fail? As Eva struggles to master her Gift, the animosity and prejudices between Eva and Quinto threatens to destroy what Eva is hoping to achieve. This book not only entertains but provides it's reader with valuable life lessons. |
