Introduction Norwegian baritone Stein Skjervold studied singing with Professor Barbro Marklund and Swedish baritone Håkan Hagegård at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, and also studied privately at the Academy of Music in Hamburg. In Norway, he participated in productions of the national opera and most regional opera houses. For more than 10 years, the soloist has been actively involved in musical life in Lithuania, often giving concerts with the Vilnius State Choir and the chamber ensemble Musica Humana, and with the latter he has recently recorded several works by contemporary Lithuanian composers. He has also performed as a soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphonics, the Lithuanian State Symphony, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, and the Vilnius State String Quartet. His repertoire ranges from early music (title role in Monteverdi’s opera Orpheus) to contemporary music created specifically for the performer. He is particularly interested in songs and the Lied genre, with recitals broadcast on Lithuanian national television. Currently, Stein Skjervold teaches chamber music and solo singing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater
