Introduction In this portal you will learn how to sketch the graph of the six trigonometric functions; sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent. Specifically it contents the following: 1. Definition of the basic terminologies on curve: period, amplitude, symmetry, displacement, translation, and asymptote. 2. Determination of the basic terminologies on curves and use them to sketch the graphs of the sine and cosine functions of different forms. 3. Used of the properties of sines and cosines in solving real-world problems. 4. Used of the basic terminologies on curves to sketch the graph of the other trigonometric functions. 5. Used of the properties of the trigonometric functions in determining the periodic behaviour of a motion caused by vibration or oscillation.
Interests Trigonometry is derived from two Greek words “trigonon” means triangle and “metron” means measurement. And so, it is being defined as triangle measurement. This was used during ancient times in surveying, navigation, and astronomy to find the relationships between the length of sides of triangles and measurement of angles. In modern times its concept of graph of trigonometric functions is now being applied in wave motion, alternation of electric current, vibration of strings, oscillation of pendulum, business cycles and biological rhythms.
