Introduction | I've written five fusion fantasy novels, a poetry chapbook, and am working a novel and on a memoir. I graduated with writing/literature and psychology degrees from the University of Michigan. I received an MFA at Mills College. |
Interests | Me through tattoos: --the cicada and the cicada shell. At fifteen, when the cicadas came out, i learned at a crucial moment that everything about us can change. --the ouroboros. Again, at a crucial point, i was reminded change is eternal, and that eternity consists of change. --the tibetian skeleton--dances in bordo, between one life and the next. i like to take a deep breath, and remember i have a lot of lives left to live in this one. --the salamander. in medieval times, salamanders were thought to be born of fire b/c throw a log on the fire (where the salamander was hibernating) and out pops a salamander (thinking it's spring). Reminds me of the differences between correlation and causation. --passion flower. this flower just followed me around at the most symbolic times. They are gorgeous and ridiculous. Plus, the passion part--not so much for love, though that of course. But a passion for writing. A passion for teaching. A passion for life. Writing, reading, drawing, collaging, drumming (badly), I wish I had a bassoon, movies of near any kind, fantasy, horror, animals, art |
