| Introduction | Growing up in Midwestern production agriculture, within a commercial cattle business, gave early onset to an interest in how the products we create, ultimately transfer to their end user. Raising a cow in the Midwest, our first product was the grass it consumed. After nurturing forages and mother cows, we took interest in how best to market the beef produced by their offspring. Back in town, many friends and family were at work in the local overall factory, or perhaps involved in the manufacturing and design of bedding springs and components. This Southwest Missouri town population of less than 10,000, was also busy building distribution of salad dressings, old fashion vanilla, and quarried limestone. The older generation invested in seeing rural and urban industries transfer into the next generation of production, as they gathered in coffee shops and cattle auctions along Old Route 66. There is a renaissance occurring, connecting the products we create and the people that use them. We can see the rally in re-shored manufacturing. Doing business local, truly has appreciation once again. |
