Introduction | My daughter Alyse was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes on Jan 20th, 2007, she was 2 1/2 years old. Since her diagnosis she has endured a dr's visit every 3 months which includes blood being drawn and the normal dr's visit routine, over 3,000 finger pricks while checking her blood glucose levels, and approx 3,000 shots. Since her diagnosis Aly has made many strides with the diagnosis, she can test her own blood sugar, and asks many questions regarding her diabetes. I know she doesn't grasp that she is a little different from the other children but she is very inquizative. In December of 2007 Aly was placed on the insulin pump, this machine is attached to her 24/7 and continuosly gives her body the insulin it needs to make energy that her body cannot do for itself. |
