| Introduction | I had a huge crush on my first grade teacher, Mary Irons, who encouraged me to read with passion... During my four years in the Navy, I read everything by Stephen King, including "The Stand" 8 times... Throughout my 19 years in the Fire department, I continued to find solace in novels, especially those written about the fire service. I am still convinced that nobody has really written a book that accurately captures the reality of the day-to-day lives of these modern day heroes. I hope to remedy that some day..... After the untimely death of our 10-month old grandson in January 2009, I turned to my library for comfort, and currently read about 4 books each week. I started by re-reading every Grisham, and then I started my quest to discover new authors and expand my interests. I love to share my books and find myself always talking about them to just about every stranger I meet. That is what lead me to start writing book reports in a blog, just to see what happens. My favorite book store is Half-Price Books, of course, and I have a tendency to buy every book available of the authors I like, and consume them. |
| Interests | Reading, writing, fishing, NFL, travel, hiking, camping. |
| Favorite movies | Lonesome Dove - I know it is a mini-series, but it is my favorite film. Tombstone, The Bourne movies, most action-adventure movies with political intrigue and a body-count. |
| Favorite music | Anything, really, except for rap. I love classic rock, old country, broadway musicals, jazz, etc. |
| Favorite books | Numerous - hence the blog. Surprisingly, the novels by Col Oliver North are among my favorites! I appreciate most Grisham novels, as well as Ludlum, Stephen King (a master, even though I do NOT like the movies attributed to his books), Baldacci, Patterson, Woods, and the list is growing daily. |
