Introduction Recreational art; is a journal of thoughts, photos and art. As a self proclaimed painter, hobbyist, hairdesigner, and lover of all natures beauty. Studying a variety of different styles of art, inspires me to learn with each completed piece.
Interests Enjoying the outdoors and watching nature is in my wheel house. Being fortunate to live near the Mississippi river I have a plethora of subjects to paint. The mighty river sports her many moody colors throughout the seasons. The sky has an array of inspiring color too. Such as their sassy salmon glow near sundown brushing the sky pretty in pink. Then near night fall you can find her pouty blue side rolling in after a rainy and blustery day. The wild life will entertain leaving a laugh out loud while watching all the expressive ducks and geese. You will be left in awe watching the majectic eagles soar to the waters edge with a large mouth bass clutched in their talons. By early spring the pelicans swoop in for a gulp of fishlins for breakfast. During the summer months, the river traffic revs up with barge, fishing and paddle boats, to leisure yachts and cruisers making their way to their destination. Flood season flows over Miss banks creating a mystic beauty even in chaos of times.
Favorite Movies My painting venture began in 2006 when I discovered buying a good piece of art could cost as much as several months or years of my income. I decided the walls had to wait until I could afford it. In the meantime, I dabbled at painting on canvas here and there. Once I moved into a new home I had several walls needing something. I bought a few art supplies and began learning how to paint by reading and watching video tutorials. After much patience and many hours practicing, I actually liked what I was creating. Here it is 2022, and now need more wall space to display my art work. Over the years, I have sold several pieces to fans but mostly have given many away as gifts to family and friends. There have been several I have donated for a special cause. One of the most valuable aspects of learning how to paint is finding a level of appreciation for all artist. Another gift art keeps giving is joy in the journey of creating in a recreational kind of way. I compare it to camping. You start out with a few tools in the box and soon realize there is a whole lot more than just a tent and a fire pit. My advice to a novice craftsperson, hobbyist, or want to be artist. Do it, go for it. Buy some student grade art supplies and just paint to your hearts content. There are books and videos you can watch to help on your journey. Your motivation, passion, and determination will keep you interested. But it is all the hours of putting brush to canvas that will eventually pay dividends. For some it may come together very rapidly and others it could be decades. Although, I may not be in a museum or ever had a gallery event. I do consider myself an artist after 16 years of learning. Best of wishes and thank you for looking through my recreational art blog. Happy painting friends!
