About me

Industry Education
Location Guatemala, Guatemala
Introduction I grew up surrounded by books, bees, and tropical trees. Studied at the Deutsche Schule Guatemala, got a degree in computer science from the Universidad Francisco MarroquĂn, an M.Sc in information systems from the London School of Economics, and an MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin, where I also earned my PhD in information studies. I have spent part of my life programming computers and doing systems analysis, editing newspaper articles, teaching computer and library science courses, designing web services, consulting for libraries and archives (digital and physical), directing streaming media and academic info resources, and lately, sailing around the world on The Scholar Ship and wondering what my next adventure should be like. I enjoy discovery: traveling, reading, discussing intelligent movies, meeting curious students, hiking, diving, and grasping scents
Interests The organization of all kinds of information collections, reading new and old books, interacting with Amazonian parrots
Favorite Movies To Live, The Class (Entre les murs), March of the Penguins, El Secreto de sus Ojos, The Usual Suspects, Star Wars (1977), The Matrix, Apocalypse Now, Amelie, Children of Men, A Better Tomorrow, Shanghai Noon, Ran, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, The Sixth Sense, and (almost) anything with John Cusack in it!
