| Introduction | Sheila Banks, author of Thoughts from a Contemplative Beast: The Paradigm Shift for the New Millennium, retired from social work after over thirty years of service. In 1997 while still a committed atheist, she had a spiritual awakening. This event, actually a mystical union, led her to intensive study of both Eastern and Western wisdom/theology.
