IntroductionI started out with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and taught kindergarten in the inner city in Los Angeles. I'm a native Californian - married to a native Californian - so it is no surprise that after 26 1/2 years in the US Air Force we settled back in California. Though we loved our overseas tours of duty: five years in Germany, 2 years in Turkey, and 3 years in the Netherlands. Those assignments were peppered in between assignments in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama (the first time we lived in the South was almost like a foreign assignment for this California girl!) I used my degree to teach in the Dept of Defense Dependent Schools system during overseas assignments, continued to take watercolor classes wherever we lived but had to take a break for several years due to family needs. It's WONDERFUL "getting back up on the horse" again. I am so glad I stuck my neck out and contacted Desiree in Riverside (where I was born and raised!)
Interestswatercolor - first learned when I took a "grass roots" course through the community college in a small No. Carolina town - and continued to take workshops and classes from local watercolor artists wherever we lived. Zoltan Zabo was in the local art store when I took some paintings in for framing - for my first experience in a student art exhibit - he liked my work and told me to keep taking classes continue gaining experience. I sold my first watercolor during that exhibit - an old tobacco barn in a local area field. The Director of the Art Center bought my painting because she said it looked so much like one she rode by on her bicycle every day, fabric art quilting, sewing, gardening - especially flowers - both inside and outside, needlework, taking walks, travel, our family, the Padres and the Chargers!
Favorite moviesFrench Kiss, My Fair Lady, Gigi, South Pacific, Star Wars Trilogy, Indiana Jones, anything with Harrison Ford in it!
Favorite musicTchaikovsky, Chopin's Appalachian Spring, John Williams musical scores, Rogers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, Glenn Miller, anything by Neil Diamond, the Beach Boys. . .
