About me

Location Sheboygan, WI, United States
Introduction I have primarily worked with oil on canvas and pastel on paper over the past 20-some years. This past summer, I returned to my roots and began printing again - but with a new printing medium - polyester plate lithography. Changing mediums shook out the cobwebs in my creative process. The process of building an image is almost the complete opposite of painting and working with pastels, working light to dark, rather than the other way around. Because of the time involved, I also have to think about how to get more than one color out of one color and in that process, using less color all together, compared to painting. I have also noticed that when I'm working on a print, I am more responsive to intuitive changes than when I paint. I have included images of one print, Dark and Light - which were saved in 3 states. The original is Dark and Light. Downside Up is a state which I printed one of the colors upside down (an accident that turned into on purpose) and Concussion - where I accidentally offset one of the colors. But I loved the motion that created, so I saved the print and plan on using that method on future prints. I envision psuedo-Pollock results. We'll see!
