| Introduction | I've been a freelance writer, wine educator and consultant for the past 16 years. I started studying wine in 1994, and completed the UK-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust Diploma in 2000. I taught the WSET courses at Ottawa's Vendange Institute from 2005 to 2010, and was Editor of FoodMode Magazine from 2008 to 2010. I'm currently on a vinous adventure at the acclaimed Babcock Winery in Santa Barbara County, California. This blog is mainly for my students in Ottawa--and wine students everywhere--who read in their textbooks "the wines are bottled after racking 4 times in a year" and wonder just what that "racking" looks like.I wondered, too, so I came to wine country to find out, and now I'm writing about it and posting descriptions, pics and video.
