| Introduction | I grew up the city of Sunset, in west Linn, Oregon. It was back in the days of riding my pony Trixie across 4 cites boundary lines with only having touched 1-2 roads. Once summer hit, my sister Kelli Brown, brought her horse home for the summer.I was riding in all the local fairs and parades! That was the only time I used a saddle. all others rides were bareback! Bunny,a Thoroubred mare and my siter's first horse,taught me everything. She was a schoolhorse at the LOHC till she retired in her 20's. It has been some time off a horse and I will elaborate more in a post on how I did get back-in-the-saddle. 3 Years ago Kelli brought me a Throrughbred mare to retrain;me after 25 years off a horse. So the adventure is on,horse ownership and barn management. Without my own place has proved MOST DIFFICULT as I have been in several stables( try 6 and 2 private homes) in the past 3 yrs. Trying to find the right mix of Horse Savvy, Equine knowledge, good footing and turnout/feeding policies(sometimes just looking for common sense- brains)Professionalism and compassion for my mare! The Quest still is ON!! Untill I build my own place and invite all my horse loving freinds! |
