| Introduction | Ever since my first backpacking trip to Indonesia when I was a student at NUS, I became very interested in knowing more about and interacting with people from different cultures. Today, twenty-six countries later, I have learnt first-hand about the importance of perfecting one's communication skills, and that it is the sine qua non to becoming mobile, flexible and adaptable in our increasingly borderless world. Having taught in Singapore, China and Hong Kong, in addition to a short sojourn in Vietnam, I'm thankful for having had opportunities to experience “another side of Asia,” similar and yet different in the ways that we Singaporeans communicate our thoughts, ideas, and views. I look forward to assisting you in creating awareness about your personal communication preferences and competencies so you can become a 21st century citizen. |
