About me

Location Chicago Suburbs, Midwest, United States
Introduction This blog is about real food, or at least mostly real food. I am on a mission to eat real food in the Michael Pollan definition: "Eat food. Mostly Plants. Not too much." I was inspired by Michael Ruhlman, author of "Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking." In the epilogue of this book, Ruhlman wrote, "My impulse to write books originates in the urge to find out what I don't know." Reading that was a bit of a Eureka! moment for me. Before, I was worried that I couldn't write about cooking and organizing and our country's food supply because, though I'm very interested in these topics I'm no expert. That's when I realized that the only way to become an expert is to do the research. So, this is my journey toward becoming a flexitarian. I am aiming to eat real food when it is available, and mostly real food when it's the best I can get. This is my journey.
