Gender Female
Occupation Observer of the beauty of life
Location Suburb of Chicago, IL, United States
Introduction I'm a baby boomer who loved growing up in the 60's in the suburbs of Chicago. I remember our President being murdered and my mother crying, sitting on my dad's lap and watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, playing hide and seek on warm summer nights, wearing Go Go boots like Nancy Sinatra's, singing Peter, Paul and Mary songs with my fellow 7th graders in Mr. Griffin's music class. I remember watching M.A.S.H. with my family and crying uncontrollably when Lt.Colonel Blake died. I remember Billie Jean King beating the pants off of Bobby Riggs and Johnny Carson singing "Rhinestone Cowboy" and laughing hysterically with my mom. I have been happily married for 27 years to Robert, a terrific guy and Viet Nam Veteran. We do not have children, but we do have lovely nephews and nieces whom we cherish and a huge adorable cat named Monty whom we adore. I am also a survivor of Ovarian/Uterine cancer who spent the greater part of 2012 undergoing radiation and chemo treatments which I embraced as a continued journey and learning experience of my life.
Interests Gardening, cooking, shabby chic decor. Collecting ceramic bunnies and birds.
Favorite Movies Gone With the Wind, Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version) Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home, The Music Man, West Side Story, Downton Abbey, Upstairs Downstairs, and any other British costume drama. I've become a real Anglophile.
Favorite Music I love Gershwin, Rogers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter, The Beatles, The Eagles, anything Motown from the 60's and 70's. CCR and Mama's and the Papa's, John Denver, The Fifth Dimension. Vince Guaraldi's jazz arrangments from old Peanuts cartoons - such fun, snappy music. It's sad that he didn't live long enough to know the influence his music had on my generation.
Favorite Books Gone With the Wind, all Kathleen Woodiwiss Romantic Novels, any book about Princess Diana or Jacqueline Kennedy - I have extensive collections on both wonderful ladies.
