Introduction	I'm married and have four kids. I have a Ph.D. and a series of scars from steel mills, a machine shop, an oil refinery, a year with a mason, some other jobs, some other bad decisions, some dear friends, and some basketball moves I never perfected. Okay, so the Ph.D. isn't complete until I learn a second language, but the rest of it is accurate. 90% of the time, when you look at me and you think I'm getting ready to bite somebody, it would be safe to guess that I'd rather be reading or writing.

Favorite Music	I've intentionally and willingly listened to little except for Modest Mouse since 2006. I go through phases including four years of warp-tour-type punk, three years of Ani DiFranco, two years of a mix tape my friend Lisa made me, and a year of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Favorite Books	I like a lot of books, and this question is hard to answer. _Moby Dick_, _The Things They Carried_, _The Sound and the Fury_.
