| Introduction | Nashville native John Bryan has written for publications such as Sports Illustrated, Field & Stream, Fly Fisherman, Gray's Sporting Journal. While in New York he caught stripers and bluefish from the rocky shorelines of the upper Westside; in south Georgia he caught bass and redbreasts from the Ohoopee; and since moving to Richmond in 1981 he has enjoyed catching all sorts of stuff from the James River, "the nation's best urban waterway." His books include THE JAMES RIVER IN RICHMOND for which he was awarded the James River Association's Guardian of the River Award, and TAKE ME FISHING, a first-of-its-kind anthology featuring writings donated, without compensation, by 50 great living writers including a Nobel Prize winner, three Pulitzer winners, and Peabody and Guggenheim Awardees. The book's Introduction is by Howell Raines and its Foreword is by Jimmy Carter. Special "Presentation Copies," which include actual pieces of fishing line provided by the book's writers, are available by contacting Bryan at jbryanfish@aol.com |
