| Introduction | Welcome to THE LIVING GAY WORD, a forum for writers who identify as gay men. Each post is a poem by a different poet. The selections have been made by Lambda Literary Award-winning poet and editor, Michael Lassell. He is the author of three collections of his own poetry: POEMS FOR LOST AND UN-LOST BOYS; DECADE DANCE; and A FLAME FOR THE TOUCH THAT MATTERS. Additionally, he is the editor of several poetry collections, including THE NAME OF LOVE; EROS IN BOYSTOWN; and (with Elena Georgiou) THE WORLD IN US. | Interests | Reading, writing, design, architecture, art, life, politics, fashion... What's not interesting? |
| Favorite movies | Anything with an English accent that is based on a book, and anything with Meryl Streep or Johnnie Depp in it, Or Matt Damon. Or Brad Pitt. As a kid, my all-time favorite was "Yankee Doodle Dandy," which I could watch nonstop for days. |
| Favorite music | Folk music from the 1960s and pretty much anything by any of the women generally considered gay icons, from Judy and Liza through Barbra, Bette, and Dolly. |
| Favorite books | Books written by me. Books written by my friends. Books written by Dr. Seuss. Mysteries. Brain-teaser historic novels. And design books, of course. And books of photography. And art. |
Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?
Because they both taste like blood. Or because blood tastes like copper. Or because we were so poor when I was a kid, I only got a single penny from the Tooth Fairy. (That's a lie, by the way).
