| Introduction | A ranch girl at heart, I have now spent more of my years navigating urban sprawl than meandering down country roads that continuously call to me. I am an engineer by career, dancer/instructor by passion, and frustrated artsy/crafty sort just ‘cause there aren’t enough hours in the day to finish the quilt I started 12 years ago! I started dancing with the cowboys when I was old enough to sneak into the saloon in the small western Montana town where I grew up. I was immediately hooked and kept with it whenever I wasn’t dumb enough to be in a relationship with a guy that didn’t dance! In 2000, I started un-learning all those bad cowgirl dance habits and began competing on the United Country Western Dance Council circuit, winning 4 world championships over the years. As if I had all the free time and capital in the world, I started the Dance Emporium, NW Albuquerque’s premiere social partner dance studio in 2011 with the hope of bringing a fun, social learning environment to the area. Dance is the sanity in my life and the fountain of youth for my body (when I have not injured myself learning some trick that should be left to a 20-year old!). |
