IntroductionI am a wife of a severely injured soldier. I have been married to my husband, my hero, for 10 years. Throughout our 12-year relationship we have been living this “wounded life” longer than the time he was “normal” - more than 7 years of it. My husband was severely injured by a mortar during a mortar attack in Taji, Iraq and spent 33 months rehabilitating at Brooke Army Medical Center before he was medically retired. I am also the mother to a remarkable young man. He was 2 ½ when his daddy was injured and doesn’t remember “when daddy’s legs worked”. His entire life has been the life of a child of a wounded warrior. He’s walked on egg shells, cried when words were exchanged, been fearful of leaving his daddy for any length of time incase he’d die, and most importantly, loved unconditionally. This is our life. This is our whole life – exposed – because if I can help one single person, provide resources to someone, or simply be that someone you can relate to, then I have served my purpose in life. I live for my family. I love my life – the good and the bad. I laugh when I can. I cry some, too. This is the life of an Army Wife because neither of us will ever stop serving.
Interestsadvocating for the wounded, advocating for children, spending time with my family, playing games with my family, homeschooling (though I don't get to!)
