| Introduction | I served as the second President of the Russian Federation, and I am the current Prime Minister of Russia, as well as chairman of United Russia and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union of Russia and Belarus. I have a wife (Lyudmila Putina) and two children (Mariya, Yekaterina). My parents are Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin and Maria Ivanovna Shelomova. My mother was a factory worker, and my father was a conscript in the Soviet Navy. I have enjoyed high approval ratings amongst the Russian public and my paternal grandfather was Lenin & Stalin's personal cook. I am a former KGB agent active for 15 years in the foreign intelligence service. Retired from the agency in 1990. Favorite quote by me: Anyone who doesn't regret the passing of the Soviet Union has no heart. Anyone who wants it restored has no brains. |
| Interests | I am a skilled equestrian and one of my favorite sports is judo. I began training in sambo (a martial art that originated in the Soviet Union) at the age of 14, before I switched to judo, which I continue to practice today. In July 2010 I appeared at a Russian-Ukrainian Orthodox Bikers festival in the Ukraine riding a Harley-Davidson tricycle. The high council of Russian bikers movements unanimously voted to elevate me into a Hells Angel range with the nickname of Abaddon. According to public opinion surveys conducted by Levada Center, my approval rating was 81% in June 2007, and the highest of any leader in the world. |
| Favorite movies | One of my favorite movies is "Shchit i mech (The Shield and the Sword)" (1968), a war/action film about a Soviet military intelligence officer who infiltrated the Abwehr (the German military intelligence) during the WWII. I decided to become an intelligence officer after I watched this movie. |
