| Introduction | I’m Dan Lawlis and I’ve been a professional illustrator for over twenty years. I spent roughly ten years in the comic book industry followed by over ten years in advertising. This unpublished illustration of Jonah and the whale was done for comic book audience that may not necessarily be interested in Christianity. It is not meant to be an accurate representation of the biblical story, but rather a image that expresses the spirit behind the story. I find attempts at accurate depictions of the story usually fall short and can be a distraction rather then a help when trying to capture the imagination of the spiritually searching individual. My attempt is to use my artistic skills to inspire others the best I can. Please let me know if you think if this illustration has done that. If I receive positive feedback I will post more biblically inspired illustrations of the same vein that are already in the works. |
