| Introduction | Whilst learning how to design buildings and bridges I became obsessed with the details - the bits of architecture which scale a building right down to the size of a human hand - a door handle, a handrail, a staircase, a bench. I still enjoy the challenge and the scale of architecture and continue to run an architectural practice with my husband, Julian Hakes. I began to learn the discipline of Jewellery making and design in 2005. My designs draw on my architectural work and respond to particular natural phenomena. I work in series, reducing the world to pieces of wearable sculpture. |
