| Introduction | A rec center basketball coach said to me, "Why are you smiling after all that running? You need to run track!", and that was it! I ran a 5K the following summer, and signed up for track the next season. I ran well enough at Boaz High to get a scholarship to UAB, thanks to Scott who wanted to recruit in state! College running was great! I had a team, a coach, and motivation! I tried to keep that up after school, but life happened. I started working part time at The Trak Shak while still in school, and had to add bartending to make ends meat after school. Add massage therapy school to the equation and that equals NO RUNNING! Now, after many comeback attempts, I'm 40 lbs. heavier, have a wife and 2 kids who have never seen me "run", and I'm struggling to feel like "I'm a runner"! |
