| Introduction | The Great Celebrated Phoenix is the English translation of my given Chinese name! I am a cultural anthropologist by vocation and training, but I am also a born autodidact who can't help but learn all the time:) I am a mother of 3 gifted children whose learning needs are not easily met in schools. So we have experimented with all forms of education and different modalities of learning that are also more fun for families. My other areas of life expertise include profound/high giftedness, homeschooling, special needs, and dealing with schools, project-based and community-based learning. I started blogging to help one school, and when teachers from other schools told me they really enjoyed what I do here, I decided to make my blog more widely accessible. My friends have often told me they loved my exciting fieldtrips and my creative children's parties that I should do this as a business :) But, for now, a blog is all I have time for now to share with all of you what I am learning and finding interesting. It is my hope that teachers, parents, grandparents and school administrators would find ideas and educational links that they find useful. |
